Early next week, the Naples City Council and Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will consider acquiring a parcel of land located at 4th Avenue South and 4th Street South intended to provide additional parking in downtown Naples. The City has proposed the construction of a parking garage at this location to help address the need expressed by some for additional parking on the Avenue. The Board of the Coquina Sands Association voted to oppose the garage for reasons that we have previously expressed. Because some members of the Coquina Sands Association may have a different opinion, we are providing additional information to assist people in coming to their own conclusion and for everyone to have the opportunity to learn more about this project in a thoughtful and impartial manner.
Our City representatives were asked for their opinions and insight on this proposal in the hope that it would provide some clarity. We invite you to read the comments provided to us by our Mayor and Councilpersons and review the presentations from City staff. Although we disagree with the accuracy of some of the information provided by the city staff and Councilpersons, we felt it was appropriate to provide you with this information.
The motion to support or oppose building the garage will be considered during the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting beginning at 8:30 am on August 15th and voted on at the City Council meeting beginning at 8:30 am on August 16th. We encourage you to attend the meeting to voice your opinion. You may also register your viewpoint by signing a petition for the garage at change.org or to oppose the garage at 44garage.org. Best regards,
